About the Artist

Daria Naumez

Since my early childhood I have been fascinated and inspired by all kinds of myths,
legends and fairytales, so my great wish has always been to become an illustrator
of fairytales. After graduating from high school in 2003 I started study at the
Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht/ Nederland.
During this time I realized, that making animation-films could be even more interesting than
just work on book illustration.
- One can create specific atmosphere of magic and beauty by using 'moved paintings' combined
with sounds and music.
So I decided to enter the Visual Communication/Video department to learn more about
storytelling, and the use of software and computer technology.

Summer 2007 to summer 2008 I've was working at my graduation film 'ANiMA'.
In this final work all my knowledge and ideas of previous years are brought together.
'ANiMA' is my big, unpredictable experiment - a mixture of different techniques and
reflections on various aspects of culture and metaphysics.
This is a story without words: just an atmosphere, created by colours, symbols and sounds.

I'm very happy with the results of this experiment and shall keep on working.

At the moment I keep on drawing, painting, illustrating and experimenting with animation-films.

With my work I hope to enchant the everyday life and bring joy both to little children
as well as to grown-up children like myself!
